After 86 years this was the end in 1987 of Boston's old elevated Orange Line from Forest Hills Station to downtown. This is the last revenue ride in for the general public. They called it "revenue", but it was free. Then we got a free ride back to Forest Hills. Probably a couple more trains rolled over these tracks to get the line clear. And then the power was shutoff forever.

Riding Amtrak out of New Orleans and over the Huey P. Long Bridge across the Mississippi. This bridge is the longest railroad bridge in America. It opened in 1935 and its piers rest on sand because bedrock is 1000 feet down in this location.

A ride west on the Sunset Limited from just before Alpine, TX in March 1991. Picking up a little speed now with the help of a Southern Pacific or Union Pacific (?) freight engine. One of the Amtrak engines was feeling poorly.
