This is a fully functional UAV using Lego Mindstorms NXT and the Lattebox interface to drive RC servos. The NXT is using a 3-axis accelerometer and two 1-axis gyros to stabilize the plane. More at DIYDrones.com
This shows how a "failsafe board" works with a UAV autopilot. It's a ReactiveTechnologies RxMux, connected to a Basic Stamp autopilot. More details at DIYDrones.com
This blimp has an Arduino-based autopilot, with both autonomous and RC modes. This video shows it in RC mode, demonstrating the superior maneuverability and altitude control of the vectoring (tilting up and down) thrusters. See DIYdrones.com for more (search for "Blimpduino")
